In February, James Hash served as a facilitator in the inaugural Legal LINK program sponsored by the North Carolina Bar Association Young Lawyers Division at Northern High School in Durham. The Legal LINK program was established by the NCBA YLD to expose a diverse group of students selected by Northern’s social studies faculty to the legal profession, to encourage them to consider legal careers, and to provide them with information necessary to prepare themselves for law school and beyond. The program received strong support from the legal community, and the roster of speakers included, among others: NCBA Past-President Charles Becton, Justice Barbara Jackson, Campbell Law School’s Vice Dean Keith Faulkner and Assistant Dean of Admissions Dexter Smith, WCBA President Ted Edwards, and North Carolina Central School of Law’s Assistant Dean of Student Affairs Lisa Morgan. Mr. Hash taught at Northern from 2001-2005 before attending law school.
