Located in the Historic Briggs Hardware Building in the heart of downtown Raleigh, Everett Gaskins Hancock LLP strives to provide clients with legal services of the highest quality in a variety of practice areas. In doing so, we take very seriously our role as attorneys and counselors and diligently work to help our clients identify and achieve their goals for the short and the long term. We take pride in our ability to draw from our collective experiences to craft innovative solutions to our clients’ problems.
Our lawyers focus their practices on solving business problems, assisting business entities, advancing the public interest in the representation of non-profit entities, and pursuing our clients’ interests through administrative proceedings and litigation in state and federal courts throughout North Carolina at the trial and appellate levels. We also relish opportunities to take on new challenges in order to server our clients’ needs.
We do not practice in every area of law, but we do practice at a high level in our fields of expertise. As a result, our Firm is “AV” rated by Martindale-Hubbell, and our attorneys have been recognized in Best Lawyers® in America, Super Lawyers, and Business North Carolina’s Legal Elite.
Our attorneys serve clients throughout North Carolina—from Robbinsville in the mountains to Manteo at the coast—and often as local counsel for out-of-state clients. Based in Raleigh, N.C., our lawyers routinely appear in the courts of Wake County and the greater Triangle area, including Durham, Johnston, Cumberland, and Chatham counties.
Everett Gaskins Hancock LLP is “old school” in feel but forward looking and thinking in practice. Grounded in 10 core principles which guide our practice, the Firm emphasizes quality of work and quality of life for our attorneys and staff. We measure our success not only through our service to our clients, but also through our service to our community and to our profession.
The Firm continues the tradition of legal excellence and service that began with the law practice of R. O. Everett (1878-1971) and Kathrine R. Everett (1893-1992), the grandparents of Rob Everett, who is currently of counsel to the Firm. Ed Gaskins began his practice with the firm of Governor Terry Sanford, and Gerry Hancock practiced with the firm of Judge and Duke Law School professor Robinson Everett (1928-2009). Ed and Gerry have practiced together for over 20 years, dating back to the formation of Everett, Gaskins, Hancock & Stevens, LLP in 1990.
