Effective August 1, 2021, Mel Black will begin serving a term as Vice Chair of the North Carolina Real Estate Commission. Mr. Black has been a member of the Real Estate Commission since being appointed by Governor Cooper in 2019.
In addition to his role on the Commission, Mr. Black is an attorney with Everett Gaskins Hancock where his practice focuses on administrative law. Mr. Black is also a real estate and appraisal educator with Colibri Group, and was recently named Educator of the Year by the North Carolina Real Estate Educators Association.
Before entering private practice, Mr. Black served as Executive Director of the North Carolina Appraisal Board and Education and Examination Officer with the North Carolina Real Estate Commission.
