Robinson O. Everett, Jr.
Practice Areas: Business and Commercial Litigation, Commercial Transactions, Zoning and Land Use Regulation
Attorney Profile
Although he has only practiced law since 2008, Rob grew up immersed in the legal profession. Rob is the grandson of Reuben and Kathrine R. Everett, both distinguished lawyers to whom this law firm traces its roots. Also, Rob’s father, Robinson O. Everett, Sr., one of the best known lawyers in the state, served of counsel to the Everett, Gaskins, Hancock & Stevens firm for several years until his death in 2009. In short, law is in Rob’s blood.
Since enrolling in UNC Law School in 2005, Rob has worked diligently to build upon his inherited knowledge of the profession. During law school, Rob gained valuable experience as an intern for NC Court of Appeals Judge Wanda G. Bryant and as an extern at the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Criminal Division. Rob also served as a summer associate for several firms including the Everett, Gaskins, Hancock & Stevens firm. Rob was an associate at the firm of Wyrick, Robbins, Yates & Ponton for the year following his graduation.
However, the legal profession is just one of Rob’s more recent careers. After graduating Harvard College in 1990, Rob spent thirteen lucky years teaching and coaching in independent secondary schools in Louisiana and Los Angeles. Additionally, Rob found time, while in law school, to pursue a variety of business interests including owning a restaurant. Currently, Rob has left active law practice in order to manage his family’s widespread real estate holdings. As CEO & President of Triple E Apartment Management (“TEAM”) Inc., Rob is responsible for multifamily residential assets in Durham, Wilmington, and Fayetteville, NC. In addition to his J.D., Rob also maintains an active North Carolina brokers license.
Yet, while his time to study and practice law is at present limited, Rob maintains his passion for and presence in the profession. Rob remains involved in legal organizations including Bar Associations and the Inn of Court. He also performs legal work for the Charitable Trust founded by his grandmother. Moreover, Rob finds his legal background invaluable in drafting agreements and reviewing leases and deeds as a property manager. Conversely, he believes that honing his business skills helps him better understand the needs of legal clients. To that end, Rob assists the firm’s partners as they continually refine the firm’s practices and core values to provide its clients the most effective, ethical legal representation.
