Our Billing Philosophy

A primary goal of Everett Gaskins Hancock LLP is to establish and maintain strong relationships with our clients, a goal that is reflected in our written principles.  Your confidence in us is of paramount importance, but that confidence may be undermined if you feel our fees and expense charges are unreasonable, or if your bill does not clearly set out the services and expenses for which you are paying. Our objective is not to squeeze every cent from our clients. Our goal is to create satisfied clients who are pleased to refer others to our Firm.

Based on this philosophy, we bill our clients in accordance with the following principles:

We are eager to explore with our clients alternatives to hourly billing arrangements.

Our hourly rates are commensurate with, and often below, the rates charged by attorneys who handle similar matters.

Wherever possible, work is delegated to the person with the lowest billing rate who can competently accomplish it.

Time entries are not rounded up to the nearest quarter or half hour.

Time entries are accompanied by a description of the specific work performed and identify the attorney or paralegal who performed the work.

We absorb as overhead many costs that other firms pass along to their clients, including electronic database charges for routine legal research, in-house copying, postage for letters and other regular mail items, facsimile transmissions, word processing and long distance telephone calls.

If you ever have a question about your statement, please call the principal attorney handling the matter or our firm administrator, Lynn Hooper.
